A ma-ō (Japanese: 魔王; demon king, devil; translated as Demon King or Dark Lord in the dub) is one of four of the highest-level mazoku in existence. Each ma-ō has reign over all the other mazoku in its world, and it is in direct opposition to that world's shinzoku.
